What in the World is the Orthodox Church?! Find out at our Inquirers/Catechumen Classes!
Have you ever asked yourself the question, "What in the world is the Orthodox Church?" Perhaps you live in Morris and have walked by the Chapel and wondered, "What actually goes on in there?" Recently there was a New York Times article entitled, "Orthodox Pews Are Overflowing with Converts!" Perhaps you are one of those who have wondered, "Why?"
Beginning Sunday, May 3rd, and continuing through the 5 Sundays of May, we will be having a Catechumen Class for all those wanting to discover what in the world the Orthodox Church is, or who desire to become catechumens, as well as for those who are already Orthodox, but have not yet taken the Catechumen class who desire to grow in the Faith!
The Catechumen Class will begin at 1 PM each Sunday after Divine Liturgy at 9 and trapeza (brunch). The month's schedule will be as follows:
- May 3rd: Introduction to Orthodoxy in America
- May 10th: God and how He reveals Himself
- May 17th: Creation, the Fall, and Recreation in Christ
- May 24th: The Church and the Sacraments
- May 31st: Following God as an Orthodox Christian in the World Today
Beginning in June, after the conclusion of the classes, there will be an opportunity for those desiring to become Catechumens to meet together with Fr. Photie individually for further studies and preparation for Holy Baptism.
If you are interested in being a part of this 5 week program, please let us know so we can have materials prepared for you!
